Wandering Mind
If you decide to enjoy the advantages of online poker, make sure that you avoid the potential pitfalls as well. It’s a great way to play poker and other casino games in the comfort of your own home, but it comes with a few added challenges. One such challenge is that of the wandering mind. When you play poker online at a brick and mortar establishment, it’s a lot easier to keep you mind in the game. The other players around you can keep you attention with their movements, speech, and betting patterns; all of these are things that a good poker player will be paying attention to anyway.
When you play online poker, however, you don’t have the same stimuli to keep you immediately immersed in the game. Many casual players make the mistake of multitasking when they play online poker-they’ll check their email, talk on the phone, or even watch television while they are playing!
Needless to say, this is a huge mistake. Even if you disregard the online tells that you should be looking for-betting patterns, speech habits and the like, you are also taking you mind off of your game. If you’re not paying attention to your hand, you could easily find yourself deeply imbedded in a pot with the wrong hand.
